To pursue a BCA course, one need not have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as subjects in Class 12. In fact, candidates who have pursued Arts or Commerce in class XII can also join the course. The basic eligibility requirements for a BCA course are as follows:
Candidates seeking admission to IGNOU for distance and online education can apply online on the official website. After the applications are submitted, the forms are scrutinised and admission is offered on first-come first serve basis. Check out a step-by-step IGNOU admission process 2023.
Step 1- IGNOU application process is completely online. Candidates willing to apply must visit the official website and fill out the form.
Step 2- Students who have applied for B.Ed, MBA, or PB BSc Nursing must appear for the required entrance and check if they havve qualified it. Followed by application, application fee payment, and entrance, students who have completed their registration can check their status by entering their registration number on the IGNOU admission status page. The university also notifies students about their admission confirmation or rejection through an email and a text message in the next two months.
Step 3- For other courses, IGNOU admission forms, submitted via the Online Admission System, are scrutinized and confirmed for admission subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria. These forms are processed region-wise on a first-come-first-serve basis. Therefore, the time required for the processing of forms for different regional centres may vary depending on the number of applicants from the respective region. However, the university claims that within two months, every student receives admission confirmation via email or on the student portal.
Step 4- Once the university communicates that the student is shortlisted, students are required to pay the course admission fee to confirm their seat at the university.

Yes, IGNOU distance BCA is a valid course as it is recognized by the University Grant Commission and Distance Education Bureau.
The only requirement to be eligible for distance BCA at IGNOU is to have a 10+2 passing certificate with minimum aggregate marks from any recognized board such as CBSE, ICSE, etc.
You can definitely opt for BCA as it has got nothing to do with maths subject but only restricted to computer basics and related programming languages that you will need to study and master your skills upon like Java, Web development, UI development, Dot NET C Sharp, C+, etc.
